How many days are best for Kunming?
Two full days cover the Stone Forest and central Kunming. Add one or two nights for Jiuxiang Caves, Dongchuan Red Land or a slower food-and-culture program.
Is the Stone Forest a day trip from Kunming?
Yes. A private vehicle normally makes it a comfortable full-day excursion with time for both the major formations and quieter walking areas.
Can Kunming be combined with Dali and Lijiang?
Yes. High-speed rail makes Kunming, Dali and Lijiang a practical 6–8 day route, with Shangri-La added when you have another two days.
