Chengdu Metro Line 3, stretching in the southwest-northeast direction, is a trunk line of the local subway system. It passes the core area of the city's central business district and mainly serves the Shuangliu, Wuhou, Jinjiang, Chenghua, Jinniu and Xindu Districts.

The whole line connects the Shuangliu West Railway Station and Chengdu Medical College with 37 stations for a distance of about 50 kilometers (31 miles). The whole trip takes about 1.5 hours and CNY 9.
